About Me

Hi, I’m Fabio. Nice to meet you 👋

I’m a programmer and game developer with a background in tool development and VFX.
Over the past year, I’ve led a team that grew from 3 to as many as 9 people while developing an original indie game.

I thrive on solving challenges, constantly learning, and turning ideas into practical solutions.
I like diving into new things, which has led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business, start graduate studies in Analytics, and explore various topics through self-learning.

Experience

Game Developer – Boundary Studios
Oct 2023 – Present · 1+ yr

Opened a small indie studio to create a new 2D Action Exploration game. My role was split between Game Developer and Manager.

  • Developed the entire production pipeline, including setting up repositories and comprehensive documentation on Confluence.
  • Programmed core gameplay mechanics, such as character movement, enemy logic, physics, and more.
  • Developed various tools to help with map creation, importing assets, maintaining naming conventions, testing and graphing character attribute curves, and many miscellaneous tasks.
  • Optimized and integrated various game systems for better performance in C#.
  • Authored the game’s story, lore, and a significant portion of the game design.
  • Managed a team of up to nine people during peak production periods, including artists, programmers, and designers.

Cinematic Technical Designer – Electronic Arts

Worked in-engine (Frostbite / Unreal) to assemble, set up, and troubleshoot cinematic marketing sequences for trailers across various titles. Majorly Fifa/FC, Need for Speed, and Immortals of Aveum.

  • Created and maintained pipeline tools including in-engine and standalone GUIs, Google Apps Script automation, and various miscellaneous scripts
  • Handled basic Perforce server maintenance and admin
  • Troubleshoot IT and engine issues
  • Developed and maintained documentation for cinematic pipeline
  • Collaborated on multiple game titles, adapting to their distinct methodologies and technologies

Cinematic Artist – Electronic Arts / Keywords

Prototyped a new PyQt5 UI for The Sims’ cinematic pipeline. With a focus on Animation loading, local socket communication, and game engine manipulation. Improved functionality by prototyping new UI features that took advantage of legacy and new backend functions.

Capturing and processing FIFA in-game footage through proprietary software, media encoder, premiere, and Photoshop. Assembling simple camera rigs, and shaders, and rendering 3D assets in Maya (Arnold). Writing Google sheet scripts for listing and moving data in Google Drive. Creating templates and tools in Google Sheets for external requests.

Marketing Consultancy – BCIT Broadcasting & Media Center

Marketing research and project development for the Broadcasting & Media department at BCIT. Including data analysis, financial synopsis, and an implementation plan for new workshop courses.

VFX Compositing – Freelance Music Video

Compositing shots for a music video for Nuke, 3D integration, relatively simple motion tracking, lighting, rotoscoping, and color grading. Budgeting, scheduling, and rendering.

Teaching Assistant – Vancouver Film School

Teach and assist the instructor in a VFX workshop introducing Nuke and basic functionality like denoising, camera tracking, basic compositing, keying, and node-based workflows.

Competitions

HACKATHON

Jan 2020

Achieved 1st place in a hackathon by organizing and facilitating team collaboration. Designed and delivered a professional pitch deck that detailed business metrics, target market analysis, financial projections, and competitive advantages of our project.

The project was a prototype app designed to address parking availability in Vancouver using public data.
Its purpose was to integrate with GPS systems, providing parking availability predictions based on historical seasonal data, with the intent for commercial sale..
